Adem Genç

Graduated from the Art and Craft department of Gazi Institute of Education, where he was trained as a painter and artisan (1962-65). Between 1965-66, he taught art in Adana and Rize. After passing the Turkish State competitive examinations in 1969, he was awarded a Ministry of Education scholarship to do postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom.

In Englandi he attended Figure Drawing and Printmaking courses at Bournemouth College of Art and tehn was admitted into Saint Martin's School of Art in London (Presently, UAL/University of Arts London, Central and Saint Martin's College of Art), and completed Postgraduate / Advanced Painting Programme in 1974.

Upon his return to Turkey, he began active duty of teaching Western Art (Contemporary Period), Drawing, Studio Painting and Graphic art in Samsun Institute of Education, Aegean University and Dokuz Eyluş University where he also obtained his PhD.

Dr. Genç, copleted his Post-Doctoral reserch at California State University as a Fulbright Scholar and artist in residence (1991-92) and then became Professor of Art in 1992.

He has joined in numerous individual and group exhibitions both in Turkey and abroad such as The Second Istanbul International Art Biennale in 1990, Houston International Festival as the designed artist for Turkey in 1995. That year Turkey was the honorary country of the festival. In September 2005, Genç was invited to enter The Second International Art Biennale in Benjing, PRC (China) where he also delivered a paper titled "Social Function of Abstract Painting" at the academic seminar in the city of Hefei.

Genç's works are included in national, international and public and private collections in Turkey and in many countries such as the USA, England, Australia, Slovenia, Germany, Romania, Switzerland and the Russian Federation.
